How do I count tokens for my prompt?

Paste your text into the box. The count updates as you type and fills the input tokens above. Use it to check that a prompt fits the context window.

How accurate is the token count?

It is an estimate, usually within 10 to 15 percent for English. Each model family has its own tokenizer. Urdu, Arabic and other non-Latin scripts use more tokens per word and are less precise.

How is the API cost worked out?

Cost per request is input tokens times the input rate plus output tokens times the output rate, with rates per one million tokens. Daily, monthly and yearly figures multiply by your requests per day.

Can I use a model that is not listed?

Yes. Choose Custom model and type the input and output prices from the provider’s pricing page.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. Counting and cost maths run in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
